Oak Treehouse
Learning Center
Oaktreehouse is a name I gave for the learning center in West Jakarta. The center embraces preschoolers and school-age children from ages 2 to 14 years old with diverse characteristics from regular to ADHD, gifted, and ASD children.
OakTreeHouse Learning Center, as the name Treehouse, has always been an enchantment that makes children drawn to it naturally. This center hopefully will arouse children’s sense of adventure, curiosity, and creativity. It hopefully too will become a safe escape or a hiding place that allows them to feel relaxed and cozy.
Existing to support schools, I put my main concern on emotional and communication challenges, which can usually be seen in low performance in school or some challenges in learning capability.
The School Readiness Program is for children who are now in school or for children who are going to enter a school, and which experiencing the situation as explained above. This program covers five areas; self-awareness, rational thinking, social, academic, and vocational.
This program is a group session. However, each child will have to go for an individual session before a group session.
The individual session focus on self-awareness, rational thinking, and the introduction of literacy and numeracy, while the group session will focus on social, academic, and vocational areas.
In this individual session, children will learn to regulate their emotions and find a suitable way to express themselves in a good manner. This is one of many focuses of the self-awareness area.
As the children have a good understanding of themselves, they will transferred to a group session where they will learn to interact with others.
Since I respect and highly value the process, this program will be then, an individual journey, which means, there is no particular time for each step, and the children must get their awareness or understanding naturally.

Openness
This may be hard to accept but children will reveal the traits that we have hidden, consciously or unconsciously. Parents, as adults, will need to be more open and accepting as it will have a great impact on the children’s progress.
Trust
Each child is unique. None of them is the same. Therefore, the teaching method will be as unique as each child. And it will be a great advantage if parents put their trust in the unique journey of learning.
